GLOBAL ACTION FOR CHILDREN  International Advocacy

On December 31, 2010, Global Action

for Children (GAC) ceased operations.

GAC came under significant financial

distress in 2009-2010 due to the

downturn in the global economy and

the contraction in overall charitable

giving. They attempted to institute a

turnaround plan to address its financial

crisis, but unfortunately could not

generate sufficient financial support.

Global Action for Children made huge strides on behalf of the world's most vulnerable children. The organization succeed in building a network of faith-based, secular and student-led organizations that placed the issue of vulnerable children on the U.S. government's agenda. It secured the first 10 percent set-aside for orphans and vulnerable children, in the legislation that authorized the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). This groundbreaking success resulted in 4 million children receiving desperately needed services.
